A word from our supplier:

Our suppliers hold a certification of authenticity. We are deeply committed to produce perfume products from sustainable and qualified sources. The ingredients used in the perfume industry have very strict standards outlined by The Research Institute For Fragrance Materials. This non-profit organization is driving the testing on products away from the “animal testing”, as well as testing for safe use in fragrances.

The fragrances supplied to Whole Fragrance by La Dolce y Vito are natural products 100% plant based essential oils and absolutes. The oils are steam distilled from plants, trees, flowers, roots, and bark. No solvents are used in the distillation process.

Our company, Lenoci Fragrance Group, LLc. complies strictly to the Research Institute for Fragrance Materials. We have a very strict quality control measures for each our raw materials which include odor, color, specific gravity, and refractive index testing. .

  1. Refractive Index
  2. Complete/Principal Chemical Constituents.

Specific Gravity:
The ratio of the weight of a given volume of oil at 20C to the weight of an equal volume of water at 20C. Of all the physiochemical properties. The Specific Gravity has been reported most frequently in the literature.

Refractive Index:
The ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction of a beam of sodium light passing from the air into the substance.

Capillary Gas Liquid Chromatography (C.G.L.C.):
The determination of the composition of the oil is established and a profile for future deliveries is ascertained. Using C.G.L.C not only determines major components of each essential oil, but with a close examination by an experienced analyst the trace components can be a guide to purity of the oil. always taking into account the variations caused by geographic location, altitude, climate, time of distillation and if a particular hybrid or clone has been used. Even the oils we buy direct from known and trusted growers and distillers has to have Complete Certificate of Analysis.

Distillation is the main method used for extracting essential oils. Distillation is based on the principal that when plant material is placed in boiling water, the essential oil in it will evaporate with the steam. Once the steam and oil have been condensed, the oil will separate from the water, and it can be collected. Plants are crushed to encourage them to release their oils. Plants are boiled in water, and the essential oils vaporize and rise up with the steam. The vapors are captured, and allowed to condense back into liquids. The essential oils are poured into Florentine flasks. Five to six tons of roses are needed to obtain one kilo of essential oil. Current methods also involve placing the plants on a screen and steam is passed through them.

Essential oils, or 'essences' as they are also called, are highly concentrated substances extracted from various parts of aromatic plants and trees. They are usually captured by steam distillation, a process whose origins can be traced back to ancient Mesopotamia. Unlike ordinary vegetable oils, such as corn and olive, plant essences are highly volatile and will evaporate if left in the open air. The chemistry of essential oils is complex. Lavender, for instance, is endowed with antiseptic, antibacterial, antibiotic, antidepressant, analgesic, decongestant and sedative properties. Moreover, due to their tiny molecular structure, essential oils applied to the skin can be absorbed into the bloodstream.

Absolutes are extracted from a concrete using pure alcohol or liquid carbon dioxide. Absolutes are highly concentrated, generally thick liquids. Some are solid or semi solid. The carbon dioxide method of extraction is preferred for therapeutic absolutes, as even after evaporation some absolutes still retain traces of alcohol. Solvent extraction provides a means of obtaining a higher volatile yield from the plant or, in some cases, a product that cannot be obtained by other extraction processes, e.g. Jasmine or Carnation.

We purchase essential oils and absolutes that are available commercially from vendors throughout the world.
